Benzoin (styrax benzoin) is a tree gum resin from Southeast Asia, rather than being distilled from a plant like a typical essential oil. Our Benzoin is the gum resin aged and centrifuged in jojoba oil, to give it a fairly liquid consistency.  It has a warm, light vanilla like scent, and is used as a skin disorder corrective and protectant for acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, wounds and frostbite; for calming the skin, and as a fixative.  Fixatives age other essential oils in a beneficial way, improving them over time, and preserving them.  Benzoin is also used in cases of bronchial and breathing problems; is an expectorant and a general disinfectant, and has anti-fungal properties. 

It’s main chemical components are coniferyl-benzoate(ester) and cinnamic acid
